DEA21 CFR 1304.11
Initial and biennial inventory
Inventory & MetrcLast verified Nov 1, 2026
Registrants take an initial inventory on the day they first handle controlled substances as a registrant, then a new inventory at least every two years.
Why it matters
DEA hasn't said whether the clock starts at the timely application or at registration for marijuana businesses. A dated full count taken now costs little.
Applies to Grower/Processor/Dispensary/Transporter/Lab
Connected rules
- Metrc reporting and daily reconciliation — Metrc's daily reconciliation doesn't replace a dated DEA inventory.
