DEA records: 2 years, readily retrievable
Records & inspectionsLast verified Nov 1, 2026
Keep Schedule III records under 21 CFR part 1304 for at least 2 years, either separate from your other records or readily retrievable from them. Record a partner's DCN wherever a DEA registration number would go.
Why it matters
OMMA's 7-year rule is longer, so keep everything 7 years and make DEA records easy to pull.
Applies to Grower/Processor/Dispensary/Transporter/Lab
Connected rules
- Record retention: 7 years — OMMA's 7 years wins.
